Poker's popularity has spread like a bush fire around the globe including Asia. Owing it to the many Asian professional poker players hogging the limelight and raking in several tournament championship bracelets in the World Poker Tour, World Series of Poker, and other world tourneys.

Poker Blog of the Month - Poker Filipinas -

The Philippines is one of the countries in Asia where poker players came out to be part of this phenomena. Casino poker tournaments are being held reaching thousands even million peso pot.

And along with with poker playing, the Internet savvy poker community in the Philippines have started their own poker blogs.

Poker Filipinas blog is one of them, regularly updated by nickg, a poker pro from Manila. Nick frequents the local tournament circuit, and waste no time hopping into different cities just to catch a game.

Like many of its counterpart in the US, Poker Filipinas blog allow the author to share with a wider audience his experiences or adventures playing poker -- online and offline. One also gets a peek at some misadventures of his every day life.

Evidently Nick is a part of the burgeoning poker community in the country. Last we heard, the WPT has allowed a Philippine franchise to hold televised tournaments and qualifiers for the WPT Championships in 2007. Proof that poker is well and alive in the country.

Poker Filipinas' latest entries discusses the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act (UGEIA) recently passed in the US:

"The language of the prohibitionists hovers around the cause du jour, terrorism. Yep, those dirty suicide bombers are gonna use online casinos to launder their terror cash. I'd like to make a prop bet right now that the moment some random would-be terrorist wins a big pot in a $10/$20 NL cash game, he'll unstrap that dynamite belt and join our degenerate gambling, capitalist ranks."

"In the short term, they'll be costing thousands of people their jobs, suck real dollars out of the economies of sovereign nations that regulate egaming, and generally fuck a lot of people over."

Yeah, we all think the UGEIA suck big-time, too!
