Gus Hansen

Hansen is originally from Copenhagen, Denmark. This poker pro is a World Poker Tour final table fixture and learned to play poker in Santa Cruz, California. Known for his aggressive style with cards that some might think “unplayable”.

Gus is known to excel in at least ten different games and was a champion backgammon player before coming to poker. On the WPT, Gus continues to dominate the tables having won three tournaments in Season 1 and Season 2. During the first WPT season, he won two championships—the Bellagio Casino and the Commerce Casino. During the second season, he won the WPT’s PokerStars Caribbean Adventure.

As of 2004, Hansen has won $1.8 million at tournaments. He is very selective in which tournaments he plays and generally only joins some of the larger buy-in events.
