Men Nguyen is living his own version of the American dream. He came to the United States on a boat in 1978 and went straight to Los Angeles. He didn't speak a word of English then. He started playing poker during a trip to Las Vegas with a friend and was hooked on the game. He almost lost everything he had but he went home thinking he can be a good poker player. He studies the game for a week then returned to try his luck again, he won every cent he lost the other week...and more. A year later, he joined his first tournament.
He joined the pro league in 1990. Men currently coaches Vietnamese poker students. He says he never read any poker books and his strategy is all his own. But he has been a consistent winner so clearly, his strategy works. He donates part of his winnings to help build Vietnam orphanages.

- 2003, first place in WSOP 7-Card Stud
- 2003, first place in WSOP Ace-to-Five Triple Draw Lowball.
- 1996, fourth place in the WSOP Main Event.
